RTX 40 Super Series Graphics Cards
The RTX 4070 Super, the first of the three graphics cards from the GeForce RTX 40 Super series, is now available at Best Buy, Newegg, and B&H Photo. Even though the best graphics cards never really reach the MSRP, many 4070 Supers are listed in the $599 price range announced by Nvidia, and there are plenty of models to choose from. The RTX 4070 Ti Super and the RTX 4080 Super have not been released yet, but some models have appeared so far.
In our analysis of the RTX 4070 Super, we found that it was a good upgrade from the original RTX 4070, bringing about 16% more performance on average for the same suggested price of $599. The 4070 now has a reduced suggested price of $549, which opens up room for both graphics cards, although the 4070 Super definitely has better value, as it is 16% faster and only 10% more expensive. Unfortunately, the 4070 Super still only has 12 GB of memory and in games with intensive use of VRAM, this can be a problem. Overall, the 4070 Super should sit between the 4070 and the 4070 Ti in the GPU hierarchy.
At the time this article was written, Newegg had the widest selection of 19 models, with the notable exception of Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Super Founders Edition, which is exclusive to Best Buy. B&H Photo comes in second with 17 cards available, and Best Buy has only seven models available for purchase. However, no RTX 4070 Supers are available on Amazon yet.
Model | Cooler | Price |
---|---|---|
Nvidia RTX 4070 Super Founders Edition | Dual fan, 2 slots | $599 |
As of now, six of the GeForce RTX 4070 Supers cost $599, which is MSRP and is on par with Nvidia’s Founders Edition model. There are some slightly more expensive models that feature slightly higher boost clocks, a white cover, and three fans instead of the typical two. However, Asus and Gigabyte have gone the extra mile to manufacture some particularly expensive 4070 Super cards, with Asus taking the crown with its $759 ROG Strix model. While ROG Strix GPUs always have a premium value, a $160 premium makes this card as expensive as the RTX 4070 Ti at launch.
