Palit constructed a smaller, fanless profile for the RTX 3050 KalmX 6GB GDDR6 with reduced VRAM and CUDA cores. Interestingly, this GPU features a DVI port, likely for those with older systems and monitors seeking a replacement graphics card. While the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB may not compete with top-of-the-line graphics cards, it retains 2nd-gen RT cores and 3rd-gen Tensor cores with DLSS, RTX, AV1 decoding, and NVENC encoding/decoding.
Along with the reduced VRAM capacity, the GPU’s memory bus is 96 bits. The CUDA cores have been reduced to 2,048 from the 2,560 typically found in the standard 8GB RTX 3050 configuration introduced two years ago. Because of these reduced specifications, Palit was able to bring the TDP of this card down to 70W, which would otherwise be 130W. The only PSU requirement is 300W, with no auxiliary power connectors. Due to the reduced configuration, it should come as no surprise that this card is cool enough for a passive cooler, fitting for its ‘KalmX’ sub-brand.
This GPU is a dual-slot card with HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4a, and dual-link DVI for video output. The 6GB RTX 3050 format from Palit would make it ideal for HTPCs in SFF cases, as it measures 16.3 x 13.7 cm. This would likely be excellent for those looking to replace older GPUs like the GTX 950 and GTX 1050 Ti.
MSI also has two new variants, where Computer Base received the RTX 3050 Ventus 2x 6G OC for review. The other version is the RTX 3050 LP 6G OC. Both have different coolers and PCB sides, but with a 20 MHz clock speed added to the standard clock speed, while keeping the 70W TDP. Based on their initial tests, the RTX 3050 6G loses over 20% of performance compared to the RTX 3050 8G.
While this may seem negative, the GPU significantly reduced the TDP and power consumption, which is suitable for the target audience who likely won’t be playing new (or outdated) PC games. Mindfactory based in Germany also shows that it is selling the RTX 3050 6G manufactured by MSI and Palit starting at €189, which equates to about $204.24, and the cheapest RTX 3050 8G costs €239.93, or $259.28. It’s safe to say this should be available in other retail channels in their respective countries and AICs.Mindfactory with headquarters in Germany also shows that it is selling the RTX 3050 6G manufactured by MSI and Palit starting at €189, which equates to about $204.24, and the cheapest RTX 3050 8G costs €239.93, or $259.28.
